SPLOST 2000 Water Distribution Projects
Jackson County, Georgia

Client Challenge:

Jackson County, a fast-growing municipality located north of Atlanta, needed to develop its water distribution system to meet increasing demands.

PRIME Solution:

Prime Engineering helped design and construct over 130 miles of water distribution system within existing right-of-way utilizing SPLOST and bond funding.  Existing right-of-way often varied or was non-existent.  Prime conducted detailed investigation of court house records to fully assess existing rights-of-way.  Once rights-of-way were determined, waterline route was designed and then reviewed with each property owner prior to construction.

Prime Engineering, Inc. is providing survey and design of county-wide water distribution system.  Funded by a Special Local Options Sales Tax (SPLOST), project involves survey and engineering roughly 70 miles of water distribution lines.  Project consists of several small projects divided by geographic regions of the County.  Project is anticipated to entail on-going services for a two year period.  Project entails stringent service delivery schedule, aerial and GPS survey as well as full detailed design, construction documents, permitting, bidding assistance and construction administration.

A sampling of the more major portions of work include:

  • 119,500 LF of 8-16-inch diameter water mains for SPLOST 6
  • 37,300 LF of 6-16-inch diameter water mains for SPLOST 7
  • 68,300 LF of 8-12-inch diameter water mains for SPLOST 8
  • 141,600 LF of 8-12-inch diameter water mains for SPLOST 9
