Client Challenge:

Reduce operating costs and minimize waste water discharge associated with passenger train and bus washing activities. 

PRIME Solution:

Provided engineering services for design/build delivery of two waste and wash water treatment, storage, and re-use facilities utilizing ultra-filtration technology system to capture gray water during process for reuse in plant systems.  Solution will drastically reduce Authority’s water consumption and has brought positive recognition from environmental authorities for being proactive towards the environment and for wise usage of water.

Prime Engineering, Inc. provided engineering design services for two washwater recycling facilities and related ancillary process equipment.  Project involves hydraulic design, multi-disciplined engineering design, equipment specifications, and controls design for facility systems for the cleaner building and train wash station. 

Scope includes:
Cleaner building system

  • Process equipment & systems
  • Exterior Equipment piping layout
  • Blow down facility pump station
  • Truck shop pump station
  • Cleaner building and Evaporator Building including floor drain system design & equipment/piping layout

Train wash system

  • Process equipment & systems
  • Exterior Equipment piping layout
  • Train wash equipment building including floor drain system design & process equipment/piping layout

Design services are being provided over three phases.  They are as follows:
Phase 1 - Pilot Testing Witness/Supervision Services of two manufacturer’s systems
Phase 2 - Preparation of detailed design drawings and specifications for construction of one of the proposed ultra-filtration manufacturers by MARTA
Phase 3 - Production of Record Drawings
