Athens-Clarke County, Georgia

As the site of numerous significant landmarks and home to a vibrant college community, Athens-Clarke County must carefully balance municipal development against historical and greenspace preservation. Prime Engineering, Inc.’s Survey and Site Development Departments have the expertise and experience to help the county in this task. Since beginning work with Athens-Clarke County in 2004, Prime has developed ongoing relationships with the county’s Transportation & Public Works, Leisure Services, and SPLOST Departments.

Prime has helped the county of project types, including:

Acquisition Surveys

  • CSX Acquisition Plats: Acquisition surveys of CSX Transportation right-of-ways, permitting the railroad to transfer property rights to Athens-Clarke County
  • Property Line Survey: Acquisition survey to convert private property into a nature trail

 Design and Feasibility Studies

  • Rails-to-Trails Feasibility Study: Preliminary designs and feasibility studies for a proposed mile-long trail in an abandoned railroad right-of-way, including historic railroad bridge piers and a trestle
